What is Trade and International Relations?
Trade and International Relations is a business unit within the Department of State Growth.
Our core function is to support Tasmanian businesses and industries to establish, grow and expand their markets, both nationally and internationally. We do this through implementation of the Tasmanian Government’s Tasmanian Trade Strategy 2019 – 2025.
How do I use this calendar?
You can search for an event or just scroll through until you find an event that interests you, then click on the event icon for more information. Depending on the nature of the event, you will have the option to book tickets immediately, register your interest or contact the event organiser.
Some events are listed for information only and may not be open for public participation.
You can filter your search by sector, market/location, event type, date or keyword. You can also register an account – it’s free – this lets you save any events of interest and set alerts for future events.
How do I locate events overseas?
To learn about events happening in international locations, click on the relevant By Market tab under the Search bar.
How are events included in the calendar?
The events on our calendar are authorised by the Trade and International Relations unit within Business and Trade Tasmania. Accepted events are organised, sponsored or funded by the local, state or Australian government, chambers of commerce, industry associations and business networks. They are primarily created by the Trade and International Relations unit. Some events are sourced from other sites.
What type of events are included in the calendar?
All events are related to trade and export. They may be held in Tasmania, across Australia, overseas or online.
The majority of events are either organised directly by the Department of State Growth, or organised by an external body with the Department of State Growth coordinating a Tasmanian presence.
Some events are completely separate from the Department of State Growth and have been deemed of potential value and interest to Tasmanian businesses.
What do Inbound Activity and Outbound Activity refer to in the “Event Types” search function?
Inbound activities involve individuals or groups travelling to Tasmania to undertake trade or export- related activities. Examples include inward buyer visits, inbound government delegations and familiarisation tours by education agents from international locations.
Outbound activities are those other than Trade Missions, Trade Shows and Exhibitions which are taking place overseas. They are generally smaller, more targeted activities that the Tasmanian Government is leading, coordinating or supporting. Examples include market familiarisation tours and product showcases.
What is the difference between this calendar and the Business Tasmania Events Calendar?
The Trade Event Calendar focuses on events specific to trade and export-related activities. It is targeted at businesses that are already exporting, those that are export-ready and those that are in process of becoming export-ready. The events listed take place in Tasmania, interstate, overseas and online.
The Business Tasmania Events Calendar focusses on events taking place in Tasmania and covers a broad range of business development and business management activities.
Occasionally events will be common to both Calendars.
I’ve already registered with the Business Tasmania Events Calendar, do I need a separate account for the Trade Calendar?
If you are already a registered user with the Business Tasmania Events Calendar, you can log in with your existing account and set up alerts for the Trade Event Calendar.
I forgot my password. What do I do?
If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it at this link .
You will receive an email with a link to reset your password. For your own security, we cannot reset your password over the phone or by email.
If you know your current password and would like to change it, log into your account and click on the Change Password button.
How do I change my password?
If you want to change your password, just go to your profile and select ‘change password’.
How do I change my account details?
You can change your account details, event alerts, event notifications, change your password and delete your account at the Account Settings page.
